A little Bit about Me. - In the Beginning of My Second Life - Chapter I

Having a life kind of puts a kink into your online world. Most of the time it interferes with the fun you would like to have online. Hopefully your life takes precedence over the online world. Your meta-verse may be what you really want or a fantasy for you to fulfill. But, all and all, your real life comes first. This sometimes disables you from spending endless, mindless hours online, contemplating world domination, or how to get that special lady to let you suck on Her toes.

In my case my busy life sometimes doesn't allow me to express myself online like I'd like to or play online like I'd like to. This is my ground for advertising my future goals and ventures. So here I sit... Making a blog entry on my first avatar in Second Life. When and if you notice, she's awefully dead looking and probably morbid to most of you. Fantasy yes, Barbie Starr originated in a strange way. I was practically begged into SL. And came here in disbelief of how I could actually make it in a meta-verse: A chat world with graphics. Coming from collarme.com, a mux called "Passion and Pain" I used to roleplay BDSM on and just plain old yahoo chat, where people could randomly IM you because of your profile(I left yahoo because of the several message ever morning that crashed my pc. So if any of you old yahoo buddies see this, just drop me a line at this address) was a big change for me. In 2006, I landed in SL and I had to pick a name out. My friend had told me to come over and over and over... and finally she said: "You can make money!" and though I am not a ProDomme, I do make money on the net. Most of my adult RL has always involved e-commerce, so when she said this I was on it! So I go to sign up in June of '06.

Just to back up a little bit: years before I started with SL, I had managed to create a FemDom Radio Station and a few websites of which 2 are still on the back burner... but I was doing quite well with the station. I was also planning my future of a RL resort in a BDSM type Community out in the middle of the United states. At that time I had an older slave named Jan that would go visit the OWK with Lady Sarah from the FemDom society during their events. They were aware of my wanting to start a sister resort for a while now. Jan is probably much older and I haven't heard from him. He may not even be online anymore. He would come back with grand stories, pictures, and things he would do there. I was very informed about the workings of OWK at that time. I was also on the slave register back then with my two owned slaves. Since then, they revamped and I had to sign up again. So, back to getting into Second Life... Here I sat at the screen and I have my own last name... and I am like "What the hell... I have to pick a last name from a list (rolleyes)." So as I sit there I am thinking.. "Oh this is a crock. I am not gonna stay in here." So I see the last name Ringo first.. and I think "Oh, Ringo Starr..." then I see Starr and I am like "Oh cool.. hrm Barbara Starr..." (Obviously I didnt want to be the CNN newscaster) So I said "Ok, Barbie Starr..." So, there you have it... Barbie Starr was born into SL. The first place I went was my friends sim: City of Tharnia(actually I now own this sim too under a different name). He is a very dear friend to me, a Master online that I have known for many years, and someone who respects me for my FemDom Lifestyle. We met in 2004, on the mux that I was playing on. I used to Roleplay the Slave Master there, in an evil land. I met a lot of my slaves that came with me to Second Life and stayed with me from that mux.
Braeden Kuhr, was kind enough to open his sim up to my slaves and I. Of course, being a FemDom, I ventured off looking for people in the FemDom Realm.

So since this is online, we won't divulge too much information about my real world and we'll stick with the meta-verse side for now. A lot of people disagree with having more than one persona online. A person from the real world usually likes to keep their real life secretive from online. Everyone in the real world has a secret or two. There is not one person that I know that is a total open book. Some people have to seperate their real world secrets from the meta-verse, so don't knock someone who likes to separate their meta-verse personalities. I will say that My Radio Personality is much more closer to reality than my Barbie Starr identity. "Barbie Starr, is just that; a Star and a Barbie." as my friend Bebop would tell you. I will say that She is a fantasy creation of mine, and one time the editor of Second Life Herald asked me... "Who would I rather be in Real Life?" I told her "Barbie Starr of course. But if I was. I'd be dead, so that's not possible."

OWK in SL

I'd like to first take a moment to welcome the OWK in SL Blog. I am very pleased to see how well the new OWK in SL has been received by the masses despite all the problems with those people who caused so much turmoil and chaos during the process of the move and remodeling. As a writer of BDSM problems with Domme and slaves, more so on the FemDom side. I think that all and all it went rather well considering the drama that is always present in the meta verse. I wish this venture with my alt great success for a bright future. As you all know the OWK is on my block of sims in SL is successful for all the ladies who participated and made the move happen. I would like to also introduce the new blog setup by Loes Shi, Zavijava Voom and myself. Make sure you subscribe to the OWK in SL blog to keep up on information and to get views from Us Domme.

I would like to thank the Squad Village for the editorial on our side of the story that was posted on her blog when this happened and I would like to also thank the Second Life Herald for not allowing any of the drama get into the paper on this matter.

I will give you some insight on the future of my servers in SL (I currently have 9 sims on the grid). I feel that the economy is really affecting us all and I am very lucky to have a submissive husband that gives freely to my SL bill to allow all you people to enjoy my lands. We will be revamping all the areas and setting up a very large playground for all you FemDom enthusiasts! Wait to see what I have in store for you.. It's been in a long time planning and yes I keep people in the dark on purpose.. We don't want those, behind the screen, wannabe housewife Dominatrix's (In no way am I directing this toward any individuals just trying to show a point of how online is! ) coming in to try and damage all of the real life Domme's hard work do we?
Just to give you an idea on where I stand on that; There are good and bad people in every walk of life. I am a FemDom, born and raised to be, been in this lifestyle real life knowingly since I was 17, No I have never done ProDomme, nor do I ever intend to, but an individual's heart in anything is what matters.. if the person is pure at heart and is wanting to be a Dominant Lady in Real Life the opportunity only allows them to be one behind the scene, then don't abuse your powers as a woman. There are a lot of online resources to help you learn about the lifestyle and how to put it to positive use and use it for helping others, I fully support that a person who seeks their domination in that manner is at heart a True Domme. But someone who is here that is jealous of others and just out to make a buck, or steal the limelight from someone who naturally gets it on their own, has no true goals other than money and uses people to gain their success through corruption and lies or tries to use blackmail to ruin lives (unless its a predetermined scene they want to play) and has never been in the lifestyle. Do us all a favor, either go pick up a few books and read from the experts on the subjects of how to lead and be followed without being a control freak and how to be a woman in power without having people locked in your basement. If you don't have the guts to admit who you really are on line to these people before you go and try to control their lives. Go out in the real world and act like you would online and see how far you get first.

OWK in SL Blog to give you an insight of what came to pass and how we actually got the OWK Resort at slurl together and ready for public use. Right now, I suggest you go take a look at that region. I won't be blabbing about any details here.. go look for yourself. Its quite impressive.

Hopefully you all have missed my blogging articles. I would like to start out by stating that summer was not exactly fun for me. No more details than that. But hopefully the rest of the year my 2nd Life will show to be more promising and exciting than the past summer of my first Life. I look forward to posting the Ask a Domme column here and will be publishing it in several other publications.. Namely a few of those will be BDSMNews info who is now an associate of mine in Second Life and my alt will be managing editor on an up and coming FemDom Magazine in Second Life. Can't wait to unveil that. Hope you all had a great summer and I hope your 1st life over the summer proved less stressful than mine.

Now that I have your attention we'll also be opening or should I say reopening for the third time my husbands SLarium and the Warehouse Goth Industrial club coming up September first. Looking forward to that excitement. Fleche Xeno will be hosting the bull rides. Expect a lot of people to be wanting to win some L when we set up those events! We've set our budget high, we have new management and we're going to be giving away a lot of prizes. Even have some females doing some mud wrestling for you.

Amulya Aabye and Fleche Xeno

Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting one of the most talented and driven woman in Second Life and I really was amazed that I found someone if not as much but more ambition maybe than myself even. If you have not met Amulya Aabye, you are missing out. Her fame in SL and her following is well deserved from how much her hard work and dedication shines through with her successes. I took the liberty of being able to sit down and get some pictures of her and her assistant Fleche Xeno (He has ADD but you didn't get that info here). Fleche and Amulya are always great fun to be around and I always enjoy their company!

Jax Streeter who just yesterday played at the Grand Opening Celebration of Alma, as the opening act, is one of the sponsors and even did some judging at some of the contest events. Fleche Xeno

Now before we continue to the Q/A I have for your reading enjoyment. I want to explain one thing. Earlier I stated in here that Fleche has ADD well this is a common problem in SL. And I have to admit I probably have some of that myself even. In more ways than you can imagine. But, lets get back to Fleche and ADD. Let me define ADD in so many words. First of all, do not expect to be as lucky as I am to get this guy in a picture in the same avatar as fast as I did with more than one pose, because I have never seen him in one avatar for more than a minute at a time. I just happened to be quick with my snapshot! So the term ADD fits him well. He coined it himself even. Avatar Discontinuity Disorder!

Well enough jabber from me! On to the Q&A!

1. Q. Amulya, what gave you the inspiration to start such a grand project like Best of SL Live?

A. I have to say I was quite naive when I started out with Best of SL Live - we had just finished a pageant called Best of SL - Avatar, and I was pretty high on how well it had gone for a first effort. I love music and a version of American Idol on Second Life just seemed like a novel idea since I had not heard anyone talk of something like that so far. Also, I would have then considered myself pretty knowledgeable about SL, but had no clue about the live music scene here. I wanted to explore it a bit and bring about some awareness of the live music scene to regular SL residents like me :) I am the kind of person who has an idea and then jumps in feet
first - no second thoughts. That was the only way I could have jumped into something like this, or I would have been too overwhelmed to do it :)

2. Q. What type of Live events are you looking at in the future to give prizes for?

A. I am currently in talks with an organization that has been holding RL music contests and runs a portal for independent artists. This organization wants to expand their reach into SL and we are planning to collaborate on a music video contest. You heard it here, first :)

3. Q. What kind of sponsors do you usually get involved in these types of contest?

A. I usually set the scope of the event such that I can cover the costs completely by myself even if I don't get any sponsors. This event, I didn't have to ask for sponsors - some of the most involved people in SL's live music scene approached me themselves wanting to be a part of this.

4. Q. Who does all that wonderful web design on your http://bestofsllive.com website?
A. I did

5. Q. As a young aspiring SL Business Woman, what advise can you give to others in SL who want to make their presence known?

A. Toughen up! I am possibly the thinnest-skinned person you may ever come across. I really had to get myself out there and toughen myself by not letting criticism break me (too much). Anyone who wants to do things that will get them into the public eye needs to be prepared to face as many if not more negative comments as the positive and be willing to carry on. Also, remember that just as you could be hurt by others' harsh words, you could very easily hurt others - so be kind and mindful :)

6. Q. Would you like to get your Best SL Live events live streamed back into SL or on the net in the future?

A. I am working to get the Best of SL events broadcast live on the net at the least in video and audio formats. What I would love to do is to broadcast them to satellite sims live in SL, so that more than 100 avatars can be part of the experience.

7. Q. Have you thought about going on the radio with the broadcasts of your contests?

A.That is definitely something I want to do - so people who cannot be there on the sim during the event can still here the event. We have been filling up our venues so fast, I think there will be quite a bit of a demand to hear the events on the net.

8. Q. How much time and people does it take to actually get one of these events together?

A. From idea to planning was about two months for this event. I did about 75% of the work and my then assistant handled the rest. During the actual event though, it takes about 3-4 people on hand to keep track of everything and answer all questions :)

9. Q. Are you looking forward to this year being a great year for more SL Live Events?

A. I hope what we did brought about enough attention to SL's live music scene that more people are willing to get into it....do some fun events. There is a lot of potential here - amazing talent that awes me every week as I hear the performers.

10. Q. Please tell us a little about the person behind the Avatar.

A. Well, I am a software architect in real life....so I do so much analytical work during day time that SL is my creative outlet. I get to do things here that I don't have the time for in RL. I am told I am as crazy in RL as I am in SL :) Mostly, my SL persona is practically the same as my RL persona - though I wish my RL waist were quite as skinny as my avatar's ;)

The club is all over the sim. There is both outside and inside facilities at the club. Upon arriving in at Alma, you will land in the lobby. Off of the lobby you have the gift shop, the beach or entrance to the inside of the club. Inside this massive club you have a beautifully designed very large shark tank surrounded by private cubbies for cuddling in, after that a very large dance floor and stage. Grand Opening night will feature several artists.

And Jax Streeter even made a special stage for the Opening. The atmosphere is great at the club.

Lots of room and the artist line up for that night is also great.

Stay for more instrumentals and DJ's after 11pm. And for now lets talk about features. Aside from dancing, dining and cuddling, Alma has a some awesome game rooms to play games in. There are currently 3 game rooms that can be used while there. Also, they have a pool area and gym.

But one feature that totally blows me away is. Its really hard to be able to go to the movies in Second Life and actually watch the movie at the same time as everyone else. UNLESS of course you are streaming. And Alma has two theatres where you can actually go to the movies and watch them at the same time. These two theatres will run two featured films. Times and movies available to
members only!

Now another feature that Alma is offering not only to members but, employees. Employment at Alma. This means a budget and a lot of organizing. Alot of organizing means good employees. A Budget means, yes you get some L for your efforts. Employees at Alma are all treated with respect and Alma is still hiring. They are looking for a range of different positions. Dj's, Host/esses, Waiters, General Management and other positions. Employees even get a place to live on Isle of Nephthys at the Employee break house.

Vendors at Alma, Merchant's get your shops set up here! Exclusive members will have access to your goods at Alma, and right now those merchant stalls are free. Alma, is offering this to top of the line vendors in Second Life.

You also will want to come to Alma to watch the tv's in the bars.

Don't forget to come to Alma on the 1st of February starting at 7pm for this grand occasion.

Formal to semi-formal attire.

Oh and one last thing. Alma will be available on Sundays between 10a-6pm for private parties like weddings, birthdays or corporate retreats. They even have their own banquet room.

Artel Brando, is one of the best musicians that has hit SL, and today at 1pm SLT he will be performing at the Best of SL Live. New Years Eve Bash and TP Chain Bazaar!

Don't forget Starting tomorrow we have our 3 day TP Chain Bazaar and our New years Eve Bash. Various radio dj's, will be playing on the air throughout the day along with FemDomRadio 2 days of Evening Live Music events. Our line up for both nights are starting on Sunday Night at 9pm we have Grateful Stryker on Accoustics between 9:00 and 9:30pm which will be the Opening Act, followed by RockPianoman Pienaar on Piano between 9:35p and 10:05pm, then a new addition to the Live Music scene, Daniel Dunderdale on the electric guitar playing instrumentals from 10:10 till 10:30pm and to close the night up make sure you stay and enjoy the Accoustic tunes of Artel Brando on accoustics from 10:35-11pm. Then on the 31st New Years Eve our line up starts at 10pm and will kick off the night with RockPianoman Pienaar on piano from 10:00pm to 10:45pm, MrJonze Independent playing accoustics from 10:50pm-1120pm and we'll ring in the new year with Montavious Peccable accoustics from 11:30p-12:30pm.

The tp bazaar chain has a great chain of sims involved in it and you can go from isle of Gaea and visit all the sims in the event. Sims are

Norfolk Island, O City, Ram Island, A'ksha Oasis. Please make sure to take the TP chain Bazaar and see what sims are dedicated to what charities. The charities will vary for each sim. Charities promoting, cancer, breast cancer, diabetes, heart, marfan's, ms, will be on the tp chain and please give what you can to the type of charities you would like to give to.

At 2pm SLT today make sure you come hang out for a spectacular winter fashion show featuring Ambergris Deadly Fashions winter fashions, Dante Designs medieval ware and Suspiria Finucane's Surrealistic Designs latest outfit. The fashion show is located right in Shoppe Gaea and Santa is still waiting for you to come and tell him what you want for Christmas from 9a-9pm SLT today. Please feel free to check out this event and give to charity for the 2nd Annual FHPG Charity Events this year.

Santa is in town! Yes and he is at Shoppe Gaea in Eunhaeng. This event is a live Santa Session and you can come and be part of the fun! Just come over and get in line for Santa to ask you what you want for this Christmas, feel free to take a picture to take home! And get a free gift. :) This years event is sponsoring many charities so a donation to your favorite charity would be appreciated. You can also get information on our up and coming year end bash and ball dropping! Adults and children alone always enjoy this event! This experience in SL is unique in itself and shouldn't be missed! So Santa is waiting for you now!

2nd Annual FemDom Community Charity Bash and New Years Eve Bash

It's that time of year again, the Fem Dom Community is holding a Charity Bazaar and a New Year's Eve Bash 2008 for the Second Life Community. The Fem Dom Community wishes to give back to those less fortunate and do so in a way that every one can have some fun. Currently, the Holiday Committee has confirmations from 30 sims. Let's not stop from there, sim/parcel owners please hurry and continue to send in those forms.

Here is what is on the agenda for the 2nd Annual Fem Dom Community Charity Bazaar and New Year's Eve Bash:

"Come Sit on Santa's Lap." This event will be held from December 20th through the 23rd from 9:00 am - 9:00pm SLT at Eunhaeng.

During the final day of Santa's event at Eunhaeng, December 23rd, at 2:00 pm, the Winter Wonderland Fashion Show. This year showcases the fabulous talents of Dante's Designs, medieval fashions, Ambergris Gothic Fashions and a Surprise Skin Designer.

The "TP Chain Bazaar" for charity will be held on across the sims participating from Dec 30th to mid afternoon January 1st.

DJ's will be on the air for most of the day, except for the Live show times. On Dec 30th they will have Live Musicians from 9:00pm - 11:00pm SLT and on Dec 31st The New Years Eve party is from 10:00pm - 12:30am SLT. Please note at about 11:50pm SLT, they will have the Ball Dropping Ceremony. Both Live Events will be filmed.

There will be several activities throughout the 3 day event: Dancing, Ice Skating, The Charity Bazaar and any other Winter Wonderland pure fun. In addition, you will get the opportunity have some nice Holiday pictures taken at our special Photo Setting area and travel the TP Bazaar Chain and take a look at what sims are offering for donations to various Real Life non-profit organizations each sim picks.

Each sim participating will be donating to a Real Life Charity of its choice. Some Sims may have donation items out for sale. If you are interested in helping with this venue please contact: Barbie Starr or Elizabeth Mahovlich.

From Now until the events are over you will notice the involved sims putting out a can for this event. All proceeds for this event will go to the sims charity of choice. So please, during this holiday season, be generous and give to the charity of your choice!

Everyone in SL is invited to these events, so come on out and give back to your community. Let's all have some fun while do this most generous of things, at this time of year, to give back to those less fortunate.
